Frequently Asked Questions

How to scan?

Scanning the QR code on a Humane Tribe Pet Tag is simple. For updated iPhone iOS smartphones, the camera function has the ability to scan the tag. Most Android phones, scanning a QR code is a basic functionality and readily available on the phone without any additional downloads as well.

What is a QR code?

A QR code is a special barcode that is customized to link directly with the intended Pet Profile. This code when accessed will generate a real-time alert to the Pet Owner, and if the location is shared, the location will be included in the real-time email notification.

What is a Short URL?

The Short URL is the very short web address that is located on the back the Humane Tribe Tag under the QR code. The Short URL will appear as qr.trbe.co/XXXXX and is essentially a web address that can be entered into any web browser for immediate access to the Pet Profile. When accessed by the viewer, the Short URL will generate real-time alerts to notify the Pet Owner of the tag being scanned.

What is an NFC Chip?

The NFC Chip is an embedded passive chip inside of the Humane Tribe Tag. This is the same type of chip that powers Apple Pay and similar type functions. The embedded NFC Chip when tapped or accessed will direct the Good Samaritan to the Pet's Profile that is connected with the Humane Tribe Tag. This is a common feature on Android devices and will be soon available on iOS phones. The NFC Chip does not require a battery and can be accessed indefinitely. Therefore, if anything happens to the exterior of the Tribe Tag, the Pet's Profile will be safely stored on the interior of the tag.

What is Geolocating and how does the Location Sharing work?

Geolocating is the functionality that provides the Humane Tribe Tag's location if the location is shared by the Good Samaritan. Location sharing is dependent upon the viewer who is accessing the information on the Humane Tribe Tag. This means that the tag is 'passive' and uses the cellular signal and placement of where the tag was scanned.

When the location is shared, the location will be included at the bottom of the email alert notification, and will link directly with Google Maps to quickly provide driving/walking directions to the Pet's most recently scanned location.

Does the Humane Tribe Tag require batteries or need to be replaced?

The Humane Tribe Tag does not require batteries or a charge, ever. Therefore there is no need to replace the tag or constantly remove the tag from the pet for charging. This provides our members the utmost convenience and security that the Humane Tribe Tag will always be on the pet.

Does the Humane Tribe Tag require a subscription?

Not at all! The Humane Tribe Tag is not bound by any subscriptions or contracts.

What if I have multiple pets?

No problem! Our Humane Tribe Network is built with security in mind, and only allows for one email address per account for protection against spam and robot account setup. If you are attempting to register multiple pet profiles, please contact us as well assist with the process of adding multiple pet profiles!

I received an email and I didn't get a location of my pet?

There can be a few reasons for why the email did not include the location. 1) The Good Samaritan elected not to share the location when attempting to access the pet profile. We cannot control this functionality nor override the location sharing due to legal reasons and security purposes. 2) Attempt to reload the email, and scroll to the bottom of the email to ensure that the location had ample amount of time to load on the email, and also take into consideration cellular service when attempting to view the email from a mobile device.

What is the Humane Tribe Hotline?

The Humane Tribe Hotline (1-844-721-2020) is our 24/7 support line that is monitored by the Humane Tribe Support team. The Hotline prompts directly into instructions for the caller to provide details on the missing pet or the situation that needs attention. The Humane Tribe Hotline is setup in this format to expedite database searching and ensure the caller is connected with the correct Humane Tribe Support Representative. Once a call is received, the details will be quickly reviewed, and a Humane Tribe Representative will take action.
